Congress pushes for populist budget

The Congress party wants the govt to give out a populist budget. In a key wish list meeting between Congressmen and Finance Minister P Chidambaram. Party leaders stressed on the need for a people friendly and vote-friendly budget, focused on the needs of common man. Reports say the 40-odd office bearers who were present told the finance minister that the party wanted a populist budget which would not be too harsh on the people, who are already reeling under increased prices.
