Speak out India: Mumbai's moral police's diktat for young lovers

Speak out India is a NewsX special show which focuses on the main news event of the day. The Mumbai Police came in for much flak after a misguided attempt to target couples romancing in parks and beaches. It then hurriedly revised its circular. What is baffling is that the move was intended to make the city safer. A circular was earlier issued on January 14 that sounded very much like a licence to the police to harass lovers and those displaying affection in public. And after that notice came in for flak, the Mumbai police withdrew the same for rephrasing. Now the new words they have added take away the edge from sounding almost moral policing. The police owns up responsibility of patrolling and promises to patrol these areas oftener and better rather than asking people to stay away. So we ask you today - Is the Mumbai police's ban on public kissing legal & justified? Shouldn't the police focus on controlling crime & not cuddling? Is the police linking open sexual behaviour with rising sexual crime? India comments and shares its view only at this NewsX special show Speak out India.
