Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday cordially accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation for 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and said that he was surprised at Congress' criticism over the incident. He said that when inviting, the prime minister specifically addressed him as Congress leader and MP. Tharoor related the campaign as a goal aimed by Mahatma Gandhi, towards which all parties should work together. He said that there should be a sustained effort to take the programmes of sanitation ahead. Further he said that he is proud to be a congressman and an Indian and that India should be put first.
