As the polls seem to indicate that the BJP may not be coming to power on its own in the state, the party is already hoping that former ally Shiv Sena won't have a problem allying with it again.

"We are hoping that they will go with the party that the people have chosen rather than those the people have rejected," a BJP spokesperson told CNN-IBN.

However, he dodged the contentious question on who the party's chief ministerial candidate would be.
