Obama proposes sweeping gun control measures

Exactly a month after the gruesome school shooting in the US, President Barack Obama unveiled sweeping measures against gun violence. Besides asking Congerss to implement sweeping legislations, Obama signed 23 executive actions on gun violence. These are policy directives that do not need congressional approval.The measures proposed were the work of a task force headed by Vice President Joe Biden, that held 22 meetings on gun violence in the last 3 weeks. The group received input from more than 220 organizations and dozens of elected officials.Reports say the proposals are already being met with stiff opposition from gun rights advocates.
