A bag containing Rs 1.60 lakh cash was restored to a commuter after CISF personnel halted a running Metro train to nab the man who had stolen it and scampered off.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at the Noida City Centre Metro station after a Madhya Pradesh resident R K Tiwari informed CISF men manning the area that someone has picked his bag containing the said cash from the X-ray baggage screening machine while he was getting himself frisked.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) immediately checked the CCTV control room of the Delhi Metro and found a person taking the bag with him and quickly boarding the train.

The train was identified, a senior CISF officer said, and it's driver was contacted over the wireless system to stop the locomotive, after which the suspect who is a resident of Tagore garden in the national capital was apprehended.

Later, the bag containing Rs 1.6 lakh was restored to Tiwari and the suspect identified as Jaspal was handed over to Noida police, the officer said.

Similarly, a theft of a mobile phone was also solved by CISF personnel with the help of CCTV footage, at the same station few days back.
