It wasn't just Abhijit Mukherjee alone who made the insensitive remarks. CPI (M) MLA Anisur Rehman did even worse. His comments crossed all boundaries of decency on Thursday, when he asked the Bengal Government what compensation will it give to the Chief Minister had she been a rape victim. The MLA was referring to the state government's recent decision to extend financial help of 20 thousand rupees for rape victims. The CPM later apologized for his distasteful remarks.
