LG writes to President, seeks permission to allow BJP to form govt in Delhi
  • 5 years ago
Reports said on Friday that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung, has written to the President seeking permission to invite the BJP to form government in Delhi.

In his report to President Pranab Mukherjee, Jung reportedly said that the BJP should be invited to form government in Delhi as it is the single largest party.

It may be noted that Delhi has been under President's Rule since February when Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the chief minister.

The BJP at present has 29 MLAs and is the single largest party in the Legislative Assembly. It had won 32 seats in the December elections that threw up a fractured verdict, but three of its legislators later went on to win the Lok Sabha elections in May this year.
