Govt won't let sports suffer: Jitender Singh - NewsX

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the future of Indian sports after the suspension of the IOA by the International Olympic Committee, Sports Minister Jitender Singh has expressed confidence that there is no danger of India not being able to participate in future sports event at the world level. The Sports Minister also said that India will be able to participate in IOC events including the Asian Youth Games to be held in China in August next year. He also added that there was no danger to future events like the 2014 Asian Games and the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Indian Olympic Association was earlier suspended by the international body after which the government was pressed into action to secure the future of sportspersons in the country.
