Hundreds of workers of the RSS affiliated Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday staged protests against the alleged torture on a national shooting champion by her husband to convert to Islam. According to reports, the VHP and several other right-wing groups had yesterday called for a day-long bandh in Ranchi today over the issue. The members of these groups had staged a torch light procession on Sunday evening to put pressure on the police over the incident involving national gold medalist shooter Tara Shahdeo. Police sealed the residences of Tara’s husband, Ranjit Kohli alias Raqibul Khan and seized his cars on Sunday.
