Describing Kasab's execution as a "true tribute" to those killed in the 26/11 terror attack," Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said, "There is a rule of law in the country and hence Kasab was given an opportunity to put his case before the lower court, High Court and Supreme Court." Alvi further said, "The Supreme Court convicted him and sentenced him to death penalty. He was given opportunity to file a mercy petition which the President of India rejected."
