Norway kids row: CWC in Burdwan hands kids to mother - NewsX

In a development that could have far-reaching consequences for the diplomatic relations between Norway and New Delhi . The Child Welfare Committee of Burdwan gave the custody of the NRI children Abhigyan and Aishwarya to their mother Sagarika Chakraborty. The order overrules the Indian government's commitment to the Norwegian Courts. That had asked the children to be kept in the foster care of their paternal uncle. The CWC however has held that that the Norwegian orders don't justify a permanent separation of the children from both their parents. But despite the order, the local police didn't comply with them, stating that they will wait for a directive from the court or other 'competent' authority.
