Manmohan Singh defends reforms at Congress rally - NewsX

Manmohan explains how it is important to allow several forms of foreign investment -- to facilitate economic progress, to battle unemployment. "It is important to bring in foreign investment to battle the challenges our economy is facing. If we have to make certain changes to our policies for the long term benefit of people, the Congress will do that.We are trying to make people realise that the decisions we have taken are meant to work for the benefit of the aam aadmi." Manmohan SIngh stressed that"The heavy burden of subsidy is a big problem for our government and to reduce the burden of subsidy on government , we were forced to increase the prices ." Backing reforms ,Manmohan said ,"We have to take tough economic decisions for the benefit of the country."
