A major fire broke out on Friday in a 22-storey commercial building in a western suburb of Mumbai, according to officials. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far, said the officials.

The blaze reportedly started off on the 21st floor of the Lotus Business Park on Andheri Link Road and later on reportedly spread to the 20th floor, according to the fire brigade officials. Fire Brigade rushed to the spot immediately.

A fire brigade official informed the media that they had received a call at around 11am that a fire had broken out in the Lotus Business Park, a commercial building. The fire brigade official said that they initially thought it was a grade-1 fire and they sent out four fire tankers to the spot.

"The fire was then upgraded to grade 2 and we have now deployed 12 fire engines and nine water tankers at the site," the fire brigade official said.

The fire, which gutted the top two floors of the building, is yet to be brought under control, he said. A municipal official said that there has been a lot of smoke emanating from the top floors wherein the fire had reportedly broken out. This has caused panic among the people who worked there. This made the evacuation process a little difficult.
