BJP, RSS in huddle over Gadkari - NewsX

The UPA government's record in office in the past three years of corruption and mismanagement of the economy had positioned the BJP in a political sweet spot. But rather than going on the offensive BJP finds itself forced on the backfoot as it tries to defend party President Nitin Gadkari on the slew of allegations made against his business dealings. The government has declared that they will look into the charges made against the BJP President. The seriousness of the charges against Gadkari have left the BJP and the party's mother organisation - RSS, reeling. Gadkari has so far enjoyed the firm backing of the RSS. But now the Sangh Parivar and the BJP are in a huddle and up for the discussion is Gadkari's historic second term, which may well be cut short now. And there seems to be a split within the BJP over Gadkari's fate. BJP MP Ram Jethmalani wants Gadkari to quit the post of BJP President and not to seek a second term in office.
