TRAI Amendment Bill: Congress, TMC to press for vote; NCP, BSP pledge support
  • 5 years ago
The Narendra Modi government is likely to face a stiff resistance from the Congress and Trinamool Congress as the two parties have decided to oppose a bill -- TRAI Amendment Bill - to legitimize the appointment of former telecom chief Nripendra Misra as Prime Minister's Principal Secretary. The government is keen on getting the bill passed on Monday in the Lok Sabha, where it enjoys a majority. The bill will replace its ordinance, or executive order, amending the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) Act, which barred Misra from taking any government post.
