GoM likely to finalise land acquisition bill - NewsX

A ministerial panel is likely to finalise the land acquisition bill in its third meeting today. Finance Minister P Chidambaram had recently said the bill is almost ready and will be presented to the Cabinet after a sitting of the 14-member Group of Ministers. In its last meeting, members had expressed differences over the government's role in acquiring land for private parties. Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy have supported the idea of government helping private players during land acquisition.
