Haryana rapes: Sonia Gandhi to meet victims, kin - NewsX

After facing huge flak over the recent spurt in rape crimes in Haryana... the Congress is in damage control mode.Congress President Sonia Gandhi will visit Jind today. A teenaged dalit girl had immolated herself here after police inaction on her complaint of rape. Sources say Sonia is likely to meet the family members of the victim, who belonged to Narwana area of the district. On Thursday, the Haryana govt had formed a three-member committee at the district level to investigate, monitor and ensure speedy prosecution of such crimes. The state DGP had directed state SPs and SHOs to tour rural areas to take action against miscreants.
