Omar blames media hype over Sarpanch killings, resignations - NewsX

Under flak for throwing village council heads at the mercy of militants in Kashmir, the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah blamed the media and political parties including his coalition partner for playing up the recent killings followed by en masse resignations of panchs and sarpanchs. Even as the resignations through newspapers continued to pour in, the Chief Minister refused to accept the formal resignations and assured security to village representatives in sensitive and vulnerable areas after a Unified Command Headquarters meeting on October 1.
