As the people of Uttar Pradesh are grappling not only with power crisis in the scorching summer, but also with the crimes against women, the least that they could have expected from their state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was unexpected and shocking comments on recent rape cases. Although, his government has sent reports to the Home Ministry and has come d own heavily upon the police to arrest all accused in Badaun gangrape cqase of two cousin sisters, but people, expect him to be sensitive enough to speak in an acceptable manner to media.

On Friday, on being asked what was his view on the law and order situation in UP in the wake of Badaun and Azamgarh rape cases, Akhilesh Yadav retorted, "I hope you have not faced any danger!" When the journalist said, "No", the angry Chief Minister said, "Thank you. You should propagate this." He also said "a new police control room has come up in Kanpur and added asserted that no other state government has such a set-up". Last month, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had raked a huge controversy on rape cases when he publicly said, "Ladke, ladke hain, galti ho jati hai (Boys are boys , they make such mistakes).

That doesn't mean that you award them capital punishment." He had also claimed "boys and girls fall in love but due to differences they fall apart later on. When their friendship ends, the girl complains she has been raped."
