In the shocking case of an 11 year old girl being arrested for blasphemy in Pakistan, a group of Christians held a peaceful protest in Karachi demanding release of girl arrested for allegedly burning pages of the Koran. The case has spotlighted attention on the country's strict blasphemy laws which can result in life in prison or even death for those accused. Most Christians in the neighbourhood where the girl lived have also fled since fearing retribution from their Muslim neighbours. Christian residents also reported that their landlords evicted them. The groups called for an investigation into whether the girl was wrongly accused and what role religious extremism played in igniting the case. They also demanded that all Christians be allowed to return to their neighbourhood.
