Tonight with Deepak Chaurasia: AAP Caught in Dire Straits as Yadav, Jaihind Resign as PAC Members
  • 5 years ago
Trouble is brewing in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as senior leaders Yogendra Yadav and Naveen Jaihind on Saturday quit from all the party positions taking responsibility of the poll debacle in Haryana, but the party rejected the same. While Yadav, the party's Haryana incharge, has resigned from the party's political advisory committee and national executive, Jaihind, the party's Haryana state convener and a close associate of AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, tendered his resignation from the national executive. According to party sources, both offered their resignations after the row between the two came to the fore and Jaihind was also served a notice. Both the leaders lost the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections from the state.Confirming the developments, party spokesperson and Delhi unit secretary Dilip Pandey said Yadav and Jaihind are still with the party and have submitted their resignation from the political advisory committee (PAC) and national executive (NE) and the same would be discussed in the national executive meeting. "The resignations offered from PAC & NE are for constructive reasons, for the betterment of party and nation at large. Introspect, re-structure, organise, expand and lead the change is what people expect from the AAP and it intends to do the same," Pandey said. Yadav had earlier denied that he was quitting the party. "Rumours about my quitting AAP are baseless. I am very much with the party and committed to working for it harder than ever," he posted on Twitter. Last week, one of the party's founding members Shazia Ilmi and G R Gopinath had quit the party, and Ilmi also remarked that that Kejriwal was being surrounded by crony cliques.
