Gujrat: Congress to hold Patel community gathering - NewsX

News of political activity ahead of assembly polls in Gujarat later this year. The Congress is looking at reaching out to the Patel vote bank with a massive rally planned at Mehsana town in north Gujarat today. The Patels comprise 18 percent of the state's population and their support is crucial to an election victory. The community is traditionally a BJP vote-bank and its the first time in many years that the Congress is going out to woo it. Nearly 70,000 Patels from north Gujarat are expected to attend.
