Rajnath Singh has promised to look into the matter and revert by Wednesday, Pathak told after the meeting. "I have told him that the sentiments of thousands of workers in the state are hurt and the party needs to look into it," said Pathak, who is believed to have been snubbed by the party due to his proximity to LK Advani From being a municipal councillor in mid-1970s, Pathak went on to represent Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat for seven consecutive terms.
"Pathak won from that seat seven times in a row while another Brahmin stalwart of BJP, Ashok Bhatt, had lost thrice," said a former member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, requesting anonymity. While Bhatt grew in state politics, Pathak had to keep away from the state and concentrate on Delhi. A skilful orator, he was even called 'Chhote Vajpayee' (younger Vajpayee).
