VVIP choppers deal: Italy probes €51mn payment to consultant - NewsX

The Italian government is investigating allegations that helicopter maker Agusta Westland paid a commission of 51 million Euros or over 350 crores to a Switzerland based consultant for a deal to sell 12 VVIP choppers to India. Investigators raided the Swiss offices of the consultant - Guido Ralph Haschke, after a former top employee of Agusta Westland revealed that he was hired to 'facilitate' the 3500 crore deal with India.
Remember NewsX was the first to bring you the story way back in February that Defence Minister AK Antony has ordered a probe into the VVIP chopper deal with Italy. As per the contract, the first chopper was to be delivered by the end of the year. The probe has now obviously cast a shadow over the deal. All eyes on whether it will be put on hold or be scrapped.
