Mamata shuts Bengal nightclubs to prevent rape - NewsX

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banarjee seems to have found an easy way out to fight rape in the State. Mamata has ordered the closure of nightclubs at the stroke of midnight. Since the peak hour for nightclubs and discotheques starts after 11 pm, nightclub owners usually opt for late closure licenses that permit them to remain open until till 2 am. But now, the new diktat has not gone down very well with people for whom the move is more a reflection of the poor law and order situation in the State.
