The overcast sky in Jharkhand led to Muslims waiting for an official announcement of the moon sighting, which ultimately came from Imarat-sharia in Patna on Wednesday evening, thereby confirming that Eid would be celebrated all over India on Thursday.

Extending wishes for the sight of moon, general secretary of Muslim Majlis Mushawarat, Khurshid Hasan Rumi said the day comes as a blessing from Allah to the millions of Muslim devotees who observe the month-long fast during the holy month of Ramzaan. "We appeal to the people to celebrate Eid with communcal harmony and religious dedication," he said.
