Govt- Nair faceoff intensifies over ISRO report- NewsX

In taking the unprecedented step of blacklisting 4 top space scientists, included former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair for the Antrix-Devas deal, the government had cited the findings of two committees. However, a close reading of both the BK Chaturvedi report and the Pratyush Sinha report reveals little to justify such an extreme action by the Govt. In fact, neither of these reports claims there was any quid pro quo or exchange of favours between the blacklisted scientists and Devas. The Chaturvedi commission report was also emphatic in dismissing the theory that the deal involved any financial loss with the exchequer. The report even put a stamp of approval on the procedure followed for arriving at the price of the spectrum. These findings have now lent credence to Nair's allegations that the Government had only published selective parts from the reports.
