Salman Rushdie row: No apology, no entry, says Deoband
  • 5 years ago
There is growing suspense over Salman Rushdie's India visit for the Jaipur Literary Festival between the 20th and 24th of January. Pressure is mounting on the Govt to bar Rushdie from landing on Indian soil. The Deoband seminary Darul Uloom has hardened its stand. It wants an apology from the Satanic Verses author or he will not be allowed to enter India. Upcoming polls in 5 states particularly U.P further raises worries for the Congress in the centre and in these states.
