Lokayukta raids peon's house, seize assets worth 4.5 cr

Lokayukta Special Establishment Police have raided the residence of peon-cum-storekeeper of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation and found documents showing assets worth Rs 4.5 crore, besides Rs 1.5 lakh cash. Narendra Deshmukh an Ujjain municipal corporation storekeeper started as a peon on a salary of Rs 150 but now reportedly owns assets worth Rs 12 crore. Lokayukta officials said that they were left dumbstruck when they raided the bungalow of Narendra Deshmukh.There were computers, LCDs, expensive furniture, apart from cash and jewellery, keeping the special police establishment (SPE) team busy for most part of the day.
