FDI war: Traders calls for Bharat band today

The consumers may not have experienced the much advertised benefits of having FDI in retail, but they will certainly face the brunt of the politics over the issue. Trade Unions across the country have called for all-India trade bandh today to oppose the move. Traders will down their shutters in various states. Opposition parties like the BJP are supporting the bandh, in which over 10,000 trade organisations across the country are expected to participate. Anna Hazare is also among those who are opposing the Centre's decision on FDI in retail. Calling for a review of the move, Hazare pointed out out to newspersons in Ralegan Siddhi that foreigners came as traders and ruled over India for 200 years.
