India News : Heavy rains lash Gujarat

India News : The south-west monsoon was active over Gujarat bringing rains to most parts of Gujarat since Wednesday night.
As many as 144 blocks of the state received rains in the last 24 hours with highest rainfall of 264 mm recorded in Umarpada block of Surat district.
The weather department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains at many places in the state in the next 36 hours.
Regions of Saurashtra and Kutch, however, did not receive any rains, but are expected to get moderate to heavy rain with thunder shower in the come two days. Heavy water-logging was seen in many low lying areas of Ahmedabad city which received 24 mm of rainfall till Thursday morning.
