Electricity Tariffs: hiked by 9 % in Punjab

India News: Punjab government today announced 9 per cent hike in power tariff.The hike in power tariff was earlier expected to be around 7 per cent.
A Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) official said the tariff order had been delayed due to some procedural issued.
After the orders, the Power Corporation had issued a circular which read: "In compliance with the PSERC order, the existing tariff for all categories of consumers will be charged with effect from April 1, 2013, till the issuance of the tariff order for 2013-14, subject to the condition that the Punjab Government continues to pay subsidy to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in respect of consumers getting subsidised power".
