Ghost towns: Conflict stymies campaigning in southeastern Turkey

Candidates campaigning for upcoming local elections in southeastern Turkey have a serious conundrum: the villages they want to run have been largely emptied by clashes between Kurdish rebels and Turkish soldiers. For the March 31 municipal elections, the representatives of these ghost districts are now chasing voters who are simply not home.
