Trump: Beto O'Rourke Probably Ended His Political Career With Wall Comment

President Trump made remarks during a media event on Tuesday.

President Trump on Tuesday suggested that former Congressman and possible presidential hopeful Beto O'Rourke's political career is over because of a comment he made about the border wall in his hometown of El Paso, Texas. "I saw where Beto wanted to take down walls," Trump told reporters during a signing ceremony at the Oval Office. "They asked me, 'what do you think,' and I said, 'I think that's probably the end of his political career.'" The comment in question was made during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes that took place on Thursday in El Paso and close to the city's border with Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.  O'Rourke was presented with the question: "If you could snap your fingers and make El Paso's border wall disappear, would you?" He replied, "Absolutely, I'd take the wall down," and further noted that "here's what we know: after the Secure Fence Act, we have built 600 miles of wall and fencing on a 2,000 mile border. What that has done is not in any demonstrable way made us safer."
