9/11 Victims Fund Cuts Payouts The September 11th Victim Compensation
Fund was opened in 2011 to help pay for injuries caused by exposure to the attack sites. The original $7.3 billion fund has dropped to
$2.3 billion, with 19,000 unpaid claims. These pending claims will now be paid
at half of their prior amount, with new
claims only receiving 30 percent. Rupa Bhattacharyya,

235 percent, due to the latency period of illnesses. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand hopes to
extend the fund to 2090 and replenish
