The standing committee of South Korea's National Security Council convened this afternoon and agreed to support the second Pyeongyang-Washington summit so that it leads to tangible results for the complete denuclearization of the Peninsula and permanent peace.
According to a press release by the top office, during the meeting, progress made by U.S. Special Representative Stephen Biegun's visit to the North and the working-level talks to fine-tune details of the upcoming summit were discussed.
The committee members also examined measures to participate in the Inter-Korean International Olympic Committee meeting, which is where the two Koreas will discuss the formation of a united team for the 2020 Tokyo Summer games as well as potentially co-hosting the summer Olympics in 2032.
