General Motors to Lay Off 4,000 Workers The company says the cuts are apart of a restructuring plan it revealed
last November. At the time, GM said 15,000 jobs and
five North American plants would
eventually be eliminated. General Motors, via statement A spokesman for GM says laid off workers who had salaries have been given severance packages. They have also been provided with services to get
jobs elsewhere. Of the 4,000 new layoffs, GM added that half of the former workers took buyouts.
