1 The continuation of the first verse is as follows;

|| Heyamapi Kim? ||

2 This can be roughly translated as; “And which is to be given up?”

3 After this Adi Shankaracharya gave the answer in a single word. He said;

|| Akaaryam ||

4 The literal meaning of Akaaryam is“the forbidden act.”

5 After knowing about his source of knowledge, the seeker gets further curious. That’s when Shankaracharya informs him that he needs to give away the forbidden actions to be capable of acquiring that sacred wisdom.

6 The next question asked in the first verse is;

|| Ko Guru ha? ||

7 This can be roughly translated as; “Who is a Guru (preceptor)?”

8 To answer this Shankaracharya said;

|| Adhigata Tattvaha | Shishya-Hitaya Udyatah Satatam ||

9 This answer of Shankaracharya can be roughly translated as;

“One who has realized the truth and ever strives for the good of the disciple.”

10 Get to know which is the verse that Shri Adi Shankaracharya has mentioned next in our upcoming video from Prashnottara Ratna Malika.
