Shiva Linga or Lingam represents the image of the generative power in nature of Lord Shiva.

The Linga Purana describes lingam as a cosmic pillar, symbolizing the infinite nature of Shiva.

The same ancient scripture says that the foremost Linga is understood as 'Prakriti' or Nature itself.

It represents the 'Brahmanda' which suggests that the creation is achieved by the union of 'Prakriti' and 'Purusha,'.

Linga also signifies 'Satya,' 'Jnana' and 'Ananta' which literally means Truth, knowledge, and Infinity.

Shiva Linga consists of three parts, the lowest is called the 'Brahma-Pitha,' the middle one is 'Vishnu-Pitha' and the uppermost one, the 'Shiva-Pitha.'

There are 12 'Jyotirlingas' and 5 'Pancha-bhuta Lingas' in India.

Linga has a mysterious or divine power that conveys your prayers directly to Lord Shiva.

‘Sahasralinga’ is famous pilgrimage site where around a 1000 Lingas are carved on rocks in the river Shalmala and on its banks.
