The Murders of Michelle Curran and Jessie Peters (Crime Documentary)

A California jury is recommending the death penalty for a man and woman convicted in the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a Las Vegas teen.

Michael Thornton and Janeen Snyder were found guilty in March.

The couple kidnapped 16-year-old Michelle Curran in 2001. They held her captive for weeks raping her before finally shooting her in the head and dumping her body in a horse trailer in California.

Curran's family and friends were in court as the verdict was read.

Autumn Belanger, a friend of Michelle Curran's, said, ""I am just happy these people are never going to be able to do this to another person again.""

Tiffany Curran, Michelle's sister, said, ""They got what they deserve and they are going to pay for it for the rest of their life.""

The family says they're happy that justice has been served.

They are planning to hold a memorial for Michelle when they get back to town.

Thorton and Synder will be back in court in July to have the date set for formal sentencing.
