January consumer price growth falls below 1 percent for first time in a year

Korea's consumer prices rose in January at the slowest pace in 12 months because of a slide in oil prices.
Statistics Korea said Friday that the consumer price index in January went up by zero-point-eight percent on-year.
Prices for agricultural products and services increased,... but falling oil prices kept down the prices of industrial goods.
Fuel prices, in particular, declined by nine-point-seven percent.
Core inflation, which excludes food and fuel,... was up by one-point-two percent.
