Covington Bishop APOLOGIZES to students after originally CONDEMNING them!!

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Bishop Roger Foys with the Diocese of Covington released a letter to parents of Covington Catholic High School students Friday.
The letter comes on the heels of an incident in Washington, D.C. this past weekend involving CovCath students. Videos of that incident have garnered national attention. The initial video showed the now self-identified Nick Sandmann, a junior at CovCath, standing in front of Nathan Phillips, an indigenous man who was participating in the Indigenous Peoples March. Sandmann and his classmates were in D.C. for the March For Life.
Shortly after the incident, the diocese released a statement that read, in part: “We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students toward Nathan Phillips specifically and Native Americans in general.”
Earlier this week, that sentiment appeared to had changed, as highlighted by an article in a recent issue of Messenger, a publication that serves the diocese.
“I am on your side,” Foys clarified, according to the article.
Foys reportedly said in a meeting at the high school earlier this week that the diocese had to release the original statement it did at the time, given the information available. He also suggested students stay off social media for the time being.
But in Friday’s letter, Foys' feelings on the matter appeared to change once more: “We should not have allowed ourselves to be bullied and pressured into making a statement premature.”
