Japanese tourists to South Korea increased by 28.7% in 2018, the most in 9 years

And despite this ongoing military and diplomatic tensions between Seoul and Tokyo,... Japanese travelers to South Korea last year jumped by the biggest margin in almost a decade.
According to Statistics Korea, the number of inbound Japanese tourists hit 2-point-9 million in 2018,... a 29 percent surge on-year,... the biggest percentage increase since 2009.
The number of South Koreans traveling to Japan last year recorded 7-point-5 million.
The rate of increase had slowed from a year earlier,... but still, it marks the highest figure since record-keeping began in 2003.
