Hero Plunges Into Water To Save Drowning Motorist

It was a shocking moment for both a woman and her rescuer and a case of being in the right place at the exact right time. Sara Ferreira was driving on a bridge in Brazil when she swerved to avoid a traffic cone and lost control. Her car plunged 20 feet into the river below. She was trapped for minutes before a motorist behind her on the bridge, José Ribamar, jumped into the water and opened her car door, saving her. Although he says he doesn't want to be seen as a hero, Ribamar was given a firefighter medal and commended for his bravery.
