Shrradha Pandit – singer,

October 7, 2008: Whilst there have been a plethora of singers who release their solo albums, here is one who is refreshingly and daringly different. All of 24, Shrradha Pandit, a hugely talented singer, has now released her debut album Teri Heer – for which she has not just sung but also written the lyrics and composed each song! This is quite a rarity. Teri Heer is a brilliant and interesting album that combines Sufi and Indian Fusion genres. The album has been released on SONY BMG.

Teri Heer is a blend of Indian melody and contemporary orchestration with all the eight tracks enhanced by the emotions of a young heart. It showcases a young woman’s feelings towards love, which she is eager to express without any hesitation – akin to the epic love story of Heer and Ranjha. Musical influences in the album include folk music especially from the north of India as well as the essence of Sufism and some Hindustani classical (especially in vocals). Hitherto only having excelled as a singer, Shrradha tries her hand for the first time at composing for this album and comes away with stupendous results. She has attempted to cover all styles such as folk, classical, Bollywood with a tinge of western music. This sound is uniquely her own – rich and soulful with a variety of textures.
