Both Ocasio-Cortez and Pressley were recently announced as new members of the "powerful House Oversight Committee, which is expected to be at the center of investigations into President Donald Trump's administration," notes CNN.
Other appointees included Democratic Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Ro Khanna. Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib have faced criticism for various matters, and some have raised concerns about their inclusion. House Oversight Committee Chair Elijah Cummings dismissed those rumblings, telling Politico: "If I based the choices going on the committee based on what people said or their reputations or whatever, I probably wouldn't have a committee."
