Sonna Puriyathu is a 2013 Tamil Comedy Film directed by debutant Krishnan Jayaraj, a former associate of Tamizh Padam director C.S.Amudhan. Sonna Puriyadhu stars Shiva and Vasundhara Kashyap in the lead roles. Sonna Puriyathu songs are composed by Yathish Mahadev, who previously composed music for the Namitha starrer Indira Vizha. Shiva also worked as a lyricist for the song Rosa Hai, to the tune of Rosapoo from Suryavamsam. Sonna Puriyathu released to mixed-to-positive reviews and got a good opening at the box office.
In Sonna Puriyathu, Shiva is a dubbing artist. Shiva does not believe in love or marriage. He lives with his mother Meera Krishnan and grandmother Vatsala Rajagopal. His dream is to be buy a Volkswagen car. His mother blackmails him into getting married. And he relents wihtout interest. Shiva's mother finds the perfect match for him in Anjali, played by Vasundhara Kashyap. She is a very devotional girl and works as a press reporter. It is revealed that Vasundhara was also not interested in getting married. They help each other by giving false reasons to each other's parents and stop the marriage. Whether or not they get together and Shiva buys his dream car is the crux of the story.
