Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko has directed the Inspector General of Police to launch a probe into Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, after he made remarks alluding that he was the acting President of the Republic of Kenya.

Sonko uttered the controversial words during Friday’s burial of the former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti’s husband, saying he was third in command after the President and his Deputy.
“Rais (President) Uhuru ako Togo, Deputy President William Ruto ako France…I am number three in command. Politically, elsewhere and socially. I am now the acting President of the Republic of Kenya,” the legislator said amid cheers from the mourners.

Tobiko in a letter to I G of Police Joseph Boinnet said Sonko should be investigated immediately and the file forwarded to his office for an immediate action.

He made the remarks despite the Deputy President being in the country and who automatically assumes the position, once the President is out of the country.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Togo to attend African Union Extra-ordinary Summit on Maritime Security and Safety and Development in Africa.

Sonko is known of being controversial.
