Police besiege Muthama home in hunt for ‘hate mongers’

Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama is among CORD lawmakers being sought by police over hate speech.
According to his aides, police had pitched camp at his Gigiri home in efforts to arrest him.

Police are also investigating claims of hate speech against MPs Moses Kuria, Ferdinand Waititu and Kimani Ngunjiri of Jubilee.
Waititu and Kuria appeared before the DCI Monday night where they were grilled before being set free with instructions to return on Tuesday.
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairman Francis ole Kaparo who also launched a probe against the lawmakers, said the commission will be proposing a multi-sectoral approach involving police and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to fight hate speech.

He expressed the commission’s concerns over emerging cases of political zoning and intolerance as the country nears the 2017 General Election.
Inspector General of Police Boinnet has since warned that the police will not spare anyone because the law is very clear.
